Abstract

Detailed histologic studies of normal dentin slab, etched dentin slab with acid and deep layer of dentin caries with the electron microscope have been undertaken by the use of film replica.
The following results were obtained.
1. Dentinal tubule, Tomes¢¥s fiber, Neumann¢¥s sheath, peritubular dentin become clearly visible.
2. There are some differences between the mode of decalcification in vitro and decalcification in vivo dentin caries.
3. Irregular hypermineralized materials are in the dentinal tubules of deep layer dentin caries closed to sound dentin.
